Quality First
While eldercare services providers have always maintained a high level of commitment to quality care, there’s never been a uniform and publicly articulated position across the entire eldercare services community. There have been no uniform performance measures, no framework for continuously monitoring and improving care based on those measures, and confidence on the part of consumers and policy makers has been lacking.
The Quality First Initiative is the eldercare community’s answer to these issues. It is not only the collaborative product of three national eldercare services organizations – the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), the American Health Care Association (AHCA), and the Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care (AQNHC) – it is a promise to Americans that eldercare services providers are taking responsibility for creating positive change in our profession.
